Preview Voices of Hope Video Clips

As therapists, we consider it a privilege to work with clients and we are often awed by their courage and honesty. Truly, they are our best teachers. Through the Voices of Hope video clips, you will hear from people of all ages and from all walks of life who are recovering from eating disorders. As part of their own healing journey, they volunteered to share their stories with you. We are honored by this gift of their experience and wisdom.

You may notice we don’t currently have any videos clips of men. This isn’t because men don’t experience eating disorders – they do, and in increasing numbers. For a variety of reasons, including stigma and societal expectations for males, many men are reluctant to publicly admit their struggles with eating disorders. We hope through the work of our web site and other eating disorder education and advocacy efforts, men will begin to feel more comfortable sharing their stories and their strategies for healing.

Examples of Topics Addressed in the Clips:

  • Personal history of the eating disorder
  • Deciding to get help
  • Entering treatment
  • Treatment issues
  • Treatment
  • Recovery as an ongoing challenge
  • Recovery strategies
  • Advice to parents and loved ones
  • Advice to professionals
  • Voices of Hope
